Sušice is the gateway to the central Šumava region. It lies at the crossroads of tourist routes in the foothills of the Šumava National Park, which was established in 1991. With its park area of 69,030 ha, the Šumava National Park is the largest national park in the Czech Republic. Thanks to its location in the middle of densely populated Central Europe, relatively high levels of preservation of nature and rich water resources, Šumava is often called the “ Green Roof of Europe ”, which offers a wealth of opportunities for active and passive recreation.
